The weather in Kovalam is ideal for yoga āsanas, with average high temperatures ranging from 29°C to 35°C. 

 

During your free time, you can explore a variety of activities, including swimming, surfing, kayaking, backwater tours, and dolphin watching. For those interested in āyurvedic programs, either before or after your immersion, āyurvedic massage and pañcakarma treatments (referring to the “five actions” or therapies that flush the ama or toxins from the deep cell tissues of the body, thereby rejuvenating the body and mind) are available in many centers in the village. There are also many beaches to explore nearby including Vizhinjam, Samudra, Grove, and Grow Beaches just a walk or short scooter or taxi ride away. Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, Papasnanam (“wash away one’s sins”), Varkala Beach, with its mineral-rich springs and where the backwaters meet the sea, and the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary are all possible to see during free days. There is also a vibrant temple culture, itinerant cultural festivals and local arts and crafts villages to explore. Thiruvananthapuram is a large city within 30min taxi, auto rickshaw or bus ride from Kovalam. All the amenities of a modern city are available here. The Thiruvananthapuram Airport (TRV) is 15km from Kovalam offering easy international and domestic access.
