MEALS

We are blessed to have Sajesh, who is passionate about traditional Kerala food, as our Ashram Manager and main cook. He has 15 years of cooking experience with local as well as international cuisine. Light breakfast, full lunch and dinner will be provided 5 days a week and is included in the Course Fee Prices. Our ashram menu is dairy, processed food and meat free, always cooked with fresh and local ingredients.

On school holidays and on Wednesdays and Saturdays (days off), you have the opportunity to explore the food offerings in Kovalam. Dining is a delight for the senses in Kovalam, which caters for a diverse range of food options to suit every taste. You will love the seafood caught fresh in the Arabian Sea and prepared in the unique Kerala-style such as grilled fish, prawn curries, seafood biryanis, and so much more. You can also enjoy international cuisine like Italian pizzas, Chinese stir-fries, and continental classics in the surrounding restaurants.

Vegetarian fare is plentiful, featuring traditional Kerala thalis, dosas, appams, idlis, and āyurvedic meals prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Sweet treats abound, including coconut-based payasams, banana fritters, and jalebis. Whether you’re a food enthusiast or simply looking to satisfy your hunger, Kovalam’s culinary scene offers something for everyone, where every meal is an opportunity to experience the flavors of Kerala’s rich culinary heritage.

Kovalam also has on offer the most abundantly available āyurvedic menu plans in all of India. Āyurveda aims to balance your three doṣas or unique constitution (prakṛti). Along with our Traditional Tridoṣa Balancing Āsana System and perfected āyurvedic ashram menu plans according to your unique constitution or doṣas, we hope that your stay with us leaves you feeling balanced, relaxed, and at peace with yourself.

Shri Kali Ashram was inspired by Shri Ma Kristina, who was deeply impressed with Bhagavan Shanmukha’s knowledge of Tantra and the secret traditions (rahasya sampradāya). She realized that unless steps were taken to preserve this knowledge, the traditional outlook on the science and culture of Tantra would be lost. Moved by this insight, she supported and inspired Bhagavan to establish Shri Kali Ashram.

May the blessings from studying within a genuine lineage / paramparā be bestowed upon all who study at Shri Kali / Sva-Tantra Ashram. This site would not be possible without the love, dedication and sincerity of Toma Ivanauskaite Devī and Dr. Torsten Beck.
